What makes our Rehab Care different?
With Derek and Will’s experience working in care settings, they have been able to identify the shortfalls in care skills and clinical knowledge. They have developed a Rehab Care Philosophy and train and support their Rehab Carers to attain a higher set of skills which include:
Enabling care- our clients are treated with dignity and we empower them to do more for themselves.
Exercises- Our Rehab carers are trained to deliver the exercise plan set by our Physiotherapist and the exercises will be done several times a day. We also train our carers to deliver passive stretches and massages in the right situation.
Rehab Care Plans- Our detailed care plans are specific to the client so that every small detail is covered to optimise your recovery and maximise your quality of life.
Solution Focused Care- With our knowledge of equipment and training we are able to work towards individualised preferences and will do everything to give people choice to live the life they want to despite age or illness.
Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy support- The Live-In Rehab care package includes one weekly Physiotherapy session so that the exercises can be progressed and the Rehab Carer can be supported to carry out the evolving rehab plan.
Enjoyment and Stimulation- Derek and Will want your care to be uplifting and enjoyable. Our Rehab Carers love helping people and our unique care approach engages the carers and the clients in a more personalised and enjoyable level by providing purpose driven care.
Complex Care Training- We are able to provide support for Tracheostomies, Stomas, EPG feeds etc. Although Rehab is our focus we also have all the training and sensitivities to provide end of life care
Cost Efficient Care- Only pay for the care you actually need. We provide single handed trained care so that you only need one carer. Our aim is to reduce the need for live-in care after 8 weeks
At The Trusted Carer we believe in the power of compassion, expertise, and collaboration to transform lives. Our goal is to provide more than just care—we aim to deliver hope, dignity, and a path toward a brighter future.
Let us be your trusted partner in recovery and rehabilitation.

About us
The Trusted Carer brings together the expertise of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy to provide care from a therapy perspective and ensures that our carers are trained at the highest professional standard. Our unique approach has elevated our standards of care with our very own Rehab Care Philosophy. Our Rehab Carers have more training and development than “traditional carers” do as they work collaboratively with our Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists to ensure each client achieves their rehabilitation goals in the comfort and familiarity of their home.
Two leading and established therapy companies, The Caring Physio and Sunday Care Therapy have formed a partnership to deliver Rehab Care. Will Ferguson, director and lead physiotherapist at The Caring Physio explains the concept:
“Our private home visit physiotherapy company supports many older people in the community and in care homes. Most of our patients have care needs and we always try to impart some useful knowledge to the carers and family members who look after our patients. More could be done to improve the training and understanding of how to integrate “enabling care practices ” with “rehabilitation”. Luckily I got to know Derek’s care company and realised that if we could combine Physio and Occupational Therapy and train the carers to provide exercise in the care routine, many people would do better getting home quickly with our support.”
Derek Sleater, Founder and Lead Occupational Therapist, Sunday Care Therapy ads:
“I started up my own Occupational Therapy-led care company after encountering the challenges of finding adequate care for my Auntie and I ended up founding a care company to improve care standards for other care service users. The concept of NHS intermediate care is a great one but the care and therapy teams can be disjointed as they are not under the management of one organisation. I was impressed by The Caring Physio’s shared passion to want to improve the level of training for carers who look after the most vulnerable people in our society. Instead of going into a care home or staying for a long time in hospital, why not go directly home with a live-in carer who is trained by both Will and me to deliver Rehab Care? We know that many people do not do well in unfamiliar care environments and will respond much better in their own home and this increases the chances of people regaining their independence with our individually tailored rehab care plans”
